Society for Human Ethics and Moral-consciousness Inc.
S.H.E.M , the Society for Human Ethics and Moral-consciousness Inc. is a non-profit corporation, dedicated to the improvement of civilization through research and dissemination of Torah based ethics and morals as they apply to the Gentile. Named after Shem, the son of Noah who set up tents of ethical learning in his time, the society is a modern day continuance of those efforts.
S.H.E.M.
is actively involved in the research and propagation of Torah based ethics
and morals as pertinent to the B’nei Noach or non-Jew. Through exhaustive
Rabbinical research of the Seven
Laws of Noah, S.H.E.M seeks to codify and re-establish the original
G-D given concepts of ethical civilization that are all but lost in today’s
society. Each of the seven laws
is thoroughly researched in order to find the full implications and underlying
concepts and better understand how they may be fulfilled in today’s society.
Using the Torah as a guide for truth, Gentiles will be able to understand
their particular role in the redemption of mankind. Utilizing educational
programs such as; structured classes, lectures, public appearances, video
and audio tape presentations, Internet web pages, written publications
and others, the society seeks to disseminate the results of this research
to the public in an effort to raise the moral consciousness of humankind
and better the current global amoral situation. In addition to these activities,
S.H.E.M also is actively involved in a cooperative effort with already
established Jewish groups to help increase the study of Torah among the
Jewish people, enhance the moral education of Jewish children and enhance
overall spirituality in modern-day Judaism. An effort to liaison with other
non-Jewish religious and ethnic groups in order to search out commonalties
of belief and spiritual advancement is also maintained.
The B'nai Noach movement is not by any means a new idea. Throughout history, it has surfaced many times as a phenomenon, only to die out due to poor leadership or unorganized efforts. The recent upsurge of the movement has already begun to show signs of the same fate. If this is truly the time of the Moshiac as many religions and peoples believe, then it is also the time for the B'nai Noach movement to finally prosper and fulfill it’s prophetic role. In order to achieve this, all related groups must work together in an atmosphere of cooperation that is devoid of greed, ego or dishonesty. A well organized group that is directed by a board of trusted individuals who are dedicated to the one goal, fostering cooperation instead of competition, may be able to achieve success.
S.H.E.M. is such a group.
